Happy Birthday, Sister

SOURCE: ELENA KALIS

Although these words are vague to unknowing minds, I would like to take this time to make a toast to the sky for my sister, Linda Nguyen Englehart, who passed away on July 29th, 2007. Today would be her 29th birthday, and although I've suffered grief, I'm humbled by her departure as I rejoice in her memory.

In remembering her, I recollect that her entity was beyond this world anyhow, and she was much like an angel on earth; therefore, she had to go home sometime. In so many ways she has become my inspiration and my hero. It's amazing how tragedies befall us and yet once we find the strength and courage to rise above the anguish in our hearts, we realize that so many of the things that hurt us are blessings in disguise.

Linda, as you watch over me, please guide me and heal me through life's obstacles so that I may earn my place with you in heaven. I wish everyday that I could have just one more day with you, but then I realize that I will have forever with you; I just have to earn my wings too. Until then, rest in paradise. I love you.

XOXO,

Hi Lily,

It always breaks my heart reading about your sister. I can hardly believe it's been almost two years since the accident. From what I know, your sister lived an incredible life and she was definitely an admirable soul. I'm certain her presence here on earth is truly missed by those who were close to her and those who loved her. Your courage and strength inspires me, and I'm deeply moved by the honesty in your writing.

Happy birthday, Linda.

With love,
Lam
