Go On, I'm Fearless

As previously mentioned, I got two new tattoos, both of which were inspired by my sister. When she passed away suddenly in 2007, I promised myself I would keep memories of her burning strong and keep her alive through thoughts and prayers. Despite my shortcomings in the past, I feel this certainly makes up for it.

The first is two stargazing lilies on the inside of my left wrist to represent my sister and I. Stargazing lilies are my favorite flowers, and it was hers as well. The second is the word, "fearless," on the inside of my right bicep. I say this in all humility and in complete absence of arrogance.

There have been countless tests and blessings in my life, some of the most intense of which have helped me emerge triumphantly against alluring temptation and negativity, especially during the last two years. But regardless of all the personal ramifications, it has in no way hindered my faith. Instead, it has strengthened and solidified it. Thank you to those who have been there to help me through it all, and thank you to the ones who have left me. You've made me prove to myself that I can do this on my own.

XOXO,

I wish I had a sister as dedicated as you. I am sorry for your loss. I might know some of what you are feeling because I have also lost a sister. You are beautiful no matter what.

beautiful tattoos. they really are the best ways to imprint a memory forever. did the lilies hurt a lot? I've been wanting to get one in the winter, but I heard the wrists were one of the most sensitive/painful areas lol. and was Sacred Hearts a good place? Everyone I know got their from Adrenaline but they overcharge a little bit...

Lily said...

V: It definitely hurt, but I'm kind of numb to pain so it wasn't too bad. Looking at my tattoo today, though, I still can't believe I did it on my wrist lol. Sacred Heart is great. Everyone there is really nice and it's clean too. Just looking at the exterior of Adrenaline scares me.

First thought- OW THAT LOOKS LIKE IT HURT!!!

I admire your courage for sharing your story. I'm sure enduring the physical pain hurt much less than the experiences you have been through. Much love to you Lily.

Honestly reading these blogs about your sister make me want to cry. all in all its very sad, but i cant help but to relate it to me and my own sister. Were only a year and some months apart and almost inseperable. She is my best friend and im not sure i could ever handle a situaution where i would never see her again. Then I read this, and your so strong and its completely inspiring! These tattoos are lovely and they have importance and meaning. ones with meaning tend to be the most beautiful!
