Cheers to a New Year

In 2009 I met people I never knew before, done things I never thought I'd do and encountered things I would have never seen coming. Although at times some of it may have seemed like a curse, I stuck by my beliefs that everything is a blessing in disguise, and in the end, it all was.
As I've stated endlessly, there have been countless tests and blessings in my life. Out of all the blessings that I've encountered as of late, there is one that truly stands out in my mind: I've finally mustered up the strength to let go of everything, and I mean EVERYTHING; whether it happened recently or a while ago, that may have hurt me or brought me down. I've let go of those who didn't deserve me and I've remained steady despite the lashes like a heavy rock in a river. From now on, I promise myself I'll only give the best of me to those who truly deserve it. No one should ever have to spend their lives defending the things they do, the decisions they make or justifying why they are the way they are. No one should ever have to spend their lives disproving all the false accusations made about them. Any life spent doing that is a wasted one. I'm strong and I never compromise my values and morals. If you can't or refuse to see that in me, then you don't deserve me either.
So for the first time in a long time, I'm allowing myself to focus on nothing but my dreams, my goals and the future that lies ahead of me. May 2010 be a year of endless possibilities.

Fantabulous post, my dearest! I agree with you wholeheartedly. I try to see everything negative as a blessing in disguise although sure, sometimes it may fail but I know the big man up there is always watching over me nonetheless. I am very certain He is watching over you every single moment of your life too. :) Likewise, my Italy trip has been nothing but fabulous but I did experience the most traumatizing (I hope that would be it) thing ever -- I was literally robbed of my money which was lots of money. But whatever it is, I've learnt that my safety is most important and that my family truly loves me. Money is secondary because it can always be earned back. But intangible priceless things can never be earn back once lost and forsaken. So let's take life with a pinch of salt and look forward to every single day ahead! Nobody deserves to be hurt and live in brokenness. We all deserve love, joy and hope, without these we are nothing :)

Believe me, once you get into your thirties or late twenties this will all be a given. You will be too tired and consumed with your own fabulous life that you won't give two shits about people who bring others down. Congrats!
This sounds all to familar. I was experiencing this at my old college so I left. Now Im working on bettering myself and becoming stronger. I love your honesty in all you do its beautiful.
