Life is Never Easy for Those Who Dream

VEDA LEATHER JACKET, AMERICAN APPAREL T-SHIRT, CURRENT/ELLIOTT JEANS, ALEXANDER WANG SHOES

This leather jacket is my first purchase of 2010. I'm absolutely smitten with the funnel collar and off-center zip closure, not to mention the color. That said, however, I need to remind myself to get my shit together and spend less money on clothes and more towards trips. I want to go to Toronto and New York this year; my future residence, one or the other. I don't belong with the pretentious types that consume Vancouver. East coast, here I come!

XOXO,

Hey honey!
I know what you mean! I love Vancouver....cuz I was born and raised here, but the east coast is something completely different. New York is one of the most inspiring places I've ever been to! People are pretentious there too, but of a different variety....Happy New Year and hope one day we can meet in person!

Isabel: By all means, move to Vancouver. It's a beautiful city. But don't bother if you want a career in fashion that's not retail-related.

holy jesus, that coat is amazing!!! it came really fast since you posted about it on your twitter!!

and love the boots!!

ps, i'm totally an east coast girl, but obviously born and raised. my dad's the opposite, he wants to MOVE to vancouver or california. hell no for me though, he wants ME to live in new york, hahaha. but the living cost... and plus, i like new york more of a travel destination rather than living a life there. idk i (L) ny.. it's so love/hate, haha.

BEAUTIFUL! You should consider being a stylist. Want to start an agency?

Alice said...

oh ps, @ your comment about how it's not the right place for fashion opportunities... omg this shady girl at work told me the complete opposite haha. she was like, "vancouver has way more fashion opportunities than toronto" and i was just thinking, um... i dont think so...

That jacket is fab! I almost bought the Alexander Wang boots on Gilt Groupe today...but alas I couldn't justify it with my measly quarters and pennies in the bank. This outfit is making me totally kick myself for not purchasing!!

You should come to Montreal!

OOH, I'd be smitten too if I own the same leather jacket. That collar is simply mesmerizing... Wish you had taken a picture with it all zipped up though! :)

Also, YAY on spending more on trips! It's so funny though, I lived in the east coast for about 9 years (3 in Montreal), and New York's great and all, but I've always dreamed of living in California! Well, wherever you decide to live in, I wish you all the happiness chica. Seems like you've got the personality and joy, so it doesn't really matter where you end up living -- you'll have fun anyway! :)

Looks like a Ricks Owens copycat.

However, it is still a nice jacket and overall wonderful outfit.

What a great way to kick off the new year with a fabulous new leather jacket. I love the collar and colour of it as well. And I like the way you're wearing your hair up in a bun! It's sad how pretentious Vancouver has become, but I know exactly what you mean.

Stay sweet xo

Great jacket! New York is a wonderful place, I've only been there once, but it was by far the best trip I've taken other than London! But hopefully not ALL Vancouverites'll start becoming pretentious..lol.

Love the jacket! Looks great. I'm from outside of Toronto and there are definitely a lot more opportunities in Toronto - and of course, NYC! It's my goal to move to NYC in the next 3 years.

So true. I love Vancouver, it's a beautiful city and the people are friendly but after visiting places like New York and living in Paris, then going back for my last year at UBC, I understand what you mean. Fashion wise, no. I was wearing my FAUX fur coat today and thinking of how big a no no it still would be especially passing in front of the library on Robson street :-) hahaha. I hope you do move to your desired city. I love the jacket by the way!

Jacket reminds me of Rick Owens. I love it. Wish there was an affordable one I could acquire.

Had no idea people in Vancouver were so pretentious. Ever think about moving to a larger, warmer west coast city? Like Seattle, Portland, San Fran?

Hmm I don't know about NYC, but TO is nowhere near as beautiful as Van, and they may be just as pretentious haha. I think it's just a city thing?

oh Lily, you look lovely as always. That jacket is so rad, I've been craving one just like it since I saw a similar version at Leone. And I definitely know what you mean about the pretentious types in Vancouver... but you know what? I've been to both NY and TO and it doesn't get any better. It's just a city thing. I think it just seems worse here because we're a small big city, so you constantly see the same people being assholes and they have a big fish attitude in a very small pond. But on that note I say skip toronto, and go to New York! I wanna see you on the City one day, showing Joe Zee how to style and telling Kelly Cutrone to go cry outside. Best of luck and happy new year! xo
