Dog Days Are Over

HELMUT LANG TOP, CURRENT/ELLIOTT DENIM SHORTS, CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN SHOES

...for now. Thank you for all the emails and comments on my last post. I really appreciate those who are courageous to share their own heartrending story. It's nice to know I'm not alone and that there are other people who are/was just as lost and confused as I am. Carrie, who I've known since 7th grade, hit the nail on the head when she recently said to me, "We put a lot of pressure on ourselves to have everything figured out by a certain age." I blame high school.

I can't promise I won't have anymore breakdowns. I've mentioned before I'm fucked up, so I'm already out of that closet, so to speak. But perhaps the ability to open myself up more to the world, to put aside my pride and to tear down my walls, will make me less of an asshole in the end. Not to mention get me a hell of a lot more dates, but that's a whole nother story.

XOXO,

I must say you are one of my favourite blogs. I love all your photos, and don't stress too much if you're lost in life, I'm pretty sure a lot of successful people did not know exactly what they were going to do with their lives when they were our age. Even those people who have everything totally planned, something is bound to come up and change. Just take life as it comes.

it sounds like your friend has totally summed things up- that applies to me too, and im sure a lot of others. I have been through horrendous times and even though everyones situation is a little different, i think the shit we face help us to be more rounded and understanding of others. I have always been told that to admit you are unsure, or things are quite so hunky dory takes the most courage, and ultimately gains the most respect. I just keep believing things happen for a reason. It seems to help.
On a lighter note- you always look gorgeous and the back of the helmut lang is stunning. If you ever need to chat seriously, find me through here. katie.xx

Stay positive! Lows are part of our life and thankfully after a low there always comes a high. Usually when you're at the bottom you truly find yourself and you discover certain strengths you didn't know you had. I have been there so I understand. Focus on the good and more will follow!

Your skin and hair are perfect! That Helmut Lang top is gorgeous. I understand where you are coming from. I wonder if I will ever know what to do with my life. It seems everyone knows what they are doing except for me.

I actually like the fact that you talk about things other than fashion in your blog. We all love to shop and dress up but that does not define who we are. Like you said in your last post, sometimes it's like who gives a fuck about all of that. At the end of the day it is who we are on the inside not what we wear that shape the person we are going to be. Your blog is the only one where I actually read the content. lol

Opening up is good. I think figuring everything out is overrated, though. Great top, I love the tattoo-peek.

hi lily, what do you wear as a bra when you wear lower backed shirts such as this one? I ask because I have a backless dress i am planning to wear and im looking at options. Thanks in advance for your help!
you look great as always!

Lily said...

Elle: I usually just don't wear a bra. That's one of the few good things about having small tits. If you're a little apprehensive and want coverage, I'd recommend NuBra, aka sticky boobs.

It's okay to breakdown once in a while, it's what makes us stronger and makes us tougher! We are only human, we can't be perfect all the time. Just be sure that you surrounds yourself with amazing friends when you do have a breakdown. They will be a blessing!

Amazing outfit! So simple but so chic! And you are really not the only one thats are/were confused. It think every person has these feelings sometimes in their life. And we just have to know that we dont have to be happy 24/7! You only can go UP if you have been down.
Also I wanna thank you for you sweet comment on my blog! It really means a lot for me! Because you are always inspiring me too!

With love,

That top is perfect on you.

And I agree, your friend is wise. We definitely do put pressure on ourselves to have certain things by a certain age and it's not healthy. We aren't taught and raised to just live life... And enjoy it. Sometimes you just have to let go of your limits + restrictions - And to be honest, sometimes it's OKAY to have breakdowns. It's a release and there's nothing wrong with it. I'm learning the same thing about myself as I type, so I can relate to how you feel. I hope you figure things out soon enough and I'm sure you'll be great. You deserve to be. Stay well.

breakdowns are ok! As frustrating as they feel, it always feels like that major release of energy sets us free to do even better things.
I love your style so keep it up as long as it makes you happy :)

Well, just because we 're not exactly as we "should" be, doesn't mean we 're fucked up...!
At least you do it in excellent style! ;)

<3 you Lily,
yup there's something about high school ... but then again it probably was the "best time" to hate yourself, love life, be sad, mad, and a lil crazy, because after all that ....... it has created who we are now ... just a bit more fashionably psychotic :)

Can't comment on your most recent post, but the vid makes me think of why I actually enjoy being alone in bookstores. You don't have to rush when you're by yourself. It's especially nice to slow down when everyone around you is rushing. I enjoy stepping back and watching everything move around me. So peaceful. Hope you're feeling better :)

So simple, yet breathtaking. I love the deep cut at the back :)

Yes, I put a lot of pressure on myself in terms of the things I need to achieve at every stage of life. I blame my mom (love you still, mom!) for making me live on my own at the age of 16. It's been 8 years since then and I still feel the pressure to overachieve things. I blame the Asian culture! hahaha... :p

"it’s quiet. the slightest noise is non existent. the room is filled with absent light, but as it nears the hour, it will flood this place. i turn away from the window. hang my head low in the stillness and as it draws near.. the light seeps and creeps around me. my head and gaze rises with the light. my day has started."

just start each day with a new light. keep moving.

I love the simplicity of that Helmut Lang top, esp the low cutout at the back. The pressure thing to have things figured out by a certain age is so true - I hate that. Hope you're feeling better about things :)
