What happens when your heart and mind are in conflict? Do you follow your heart's desire or do you listen to the sound voice of reason? Yet, doesn't the heart know reason that reason doesn't understand? I do think with my mind, but more often than not, I act with my heart. In the long run, I don't know what good that'll do me.

Looking back, I'm not even sure if I ever truly loved before or if it was only circumstance that had me shaken.

Liillly! i think for the most part, you should always follow your gut/heart/instinct...whatever you wanna call it. but when it comes to relationships...it's harder. I would almost say in relationships, you should try to think more with your head otherwise you'll get hurt.
HA! long distance. Yeesh. I don't know how people do it. like i know some people that are dating from one end of the earth to the other. talk about COMMITMENT!

This is so very true to many extents. But I think any decision to be made would be without merit if a great deal of thought and logic and reasoning and debate were not put into it.
While in the end many of us go with our gut reaction, some of the best decisions we make are the ones we have to muddle through logic first.
When it comes to romance, however, your heart is probably a better judge, because matters of love deal mainly with the heart, and the heart can tell you better what it wants. When it comes to conflict in love, it is better to rely on our heads, because it can keep us grounded firmly where the heart might lead us astray.
If you aren't sure you were in love at all, maybe you weren't. You know it all when it feels so good your heart will burst. And when it hurts so hard your heart DOES burst.
Long distance sucks. Which is why I moved. And hey, my gut was right. Bling, bling, wedding ring 5 years later.
When I was 22, I'd gone through lots of heartbreak. (If you're ever curious, I'm sure I've written about it at www.maeko.org.) It wasn't until I met my husband that I knew I'd never TRULY loved until we met.

Heart. All. The Way. But you know me, always go with my heart and never with my mind. The mind gives up easily but the heart stays true.
I love the outfit. Following my mind is almost impossible for me. Even if I do decide to follow my mind, my heart always haunts me later and I'll probably end up changing my decision.
Long distance..I don't think I could stand seeing someone only few times a year. It's kind of hard for me to bond if I can't physically see the person. But on the other hand, seeing them too much is a problem too. This is ironic because I have a semi-long distance relationship. My boyfriend lives in Victoria for school while I'm in Vancouver. Last year he came back almost every weekend but this year he will probably come back once or month or so. This is probably a good balance and he will be back in time just for me not to miss him too much. We've been dating for almost 4 years, I think that's pretty amazing for people our age. I'm glad we have a strong relationship.
I'm sure you'll find love someday. It will come right when you least expect it.

i would like to think that i am the the type of person to follow reason over heart because love can make people do crazy shit. i have build a wall around my heart because of bad experiences.

Love is a risky thing, but it's also one of the most amazing-est things in the world! I live in a land of unicorns and rainbows and always try to see the brighter side of things. I also believe in soulmates and I married mine, so I guess my opinion could be biased. Although, I was in shitty relationships, but wouldn't ever change those experiences. It taught me a lot.
You'll get through this. I'm sure you will. :)

I can totally sympathise with the head V heart dilemma. I think that you should listen to your head but never, EVER go for something that your hearts not really in or you will never really be satisfied no matter how sensible a choice it is.

Before I moved to Brazil I had a long-distance relationship for 6 month. This is not the world and we could make it work thanks internet and skype. But now I have to go back to either Germany or London and my boyfriend will stay here, because he has to finish his university. This time the 'break' will be longer, about a year or even more. I hope we can make it work, but I'm afraid it. It can happen a lot in one year. We'll see!

When it comes to head vs. heart, I say it depends on the situation. I can't help it because it's all relative! But I think that once you've been hurt, you tend to listen with your head more even though it's hard to ignore the wants and needs of your heart. The only difference is, at least when you follow your heart, you won't always wonder "what if" and I think that even if you do get hurt in the end, at least you'll learn something from it and become stronger despite the emotional pain.
