- Forever 21
- Lanvin for H&M
- Proclaimed trends/must-haves

i concur with 1-4. i'd agree with 5 if i was making money to go shop somewhere else :/ saw previews for 6 and im not exactly impressed. i suppose 8 doesnt even apply to me? ha and well 10 i think is fun, but i wanna do it all the time.
KeepItFvncy,
M.E.
HAUL VIDEOS ARE THE WORST.
Omg, Couldn't agree more; Especially on the UGGs/Clogs. I'd like to add Aviator Jacket to the list too..
You know what's worse than Haul Videos? Perfume Haul Videos ("Yeh it smells really good *sniffs perfume* mmmmmm" ¬_¬
I love your surly nature. I have to agree on the Ugg x Jimmy Choo thing, the Litas, and halloween costumes.
www.FashionSnag.com
I actually love your surly nature. I agree with all 10 things on your list, especially the Trends/must-haves.
well first off all i love your outfit!
yes to all especially #3 and #4, but for #10 i would add "spending loads of money on a costume," as i don't mind the actual holiday...
this outfit is grrrreat! where can i find that jacket? looked it up online, but found nothing :/
thanks!
oh and totally agree with forever21 bleh.
I love you. Literally, you're amazing, I love how you say it as it is. If I end up going to VFW (highly doubt it, I'd rather sit at home and be anti-social than go out and probably die of boredom), I'll agree with literally everything.
On a side note, I love your nail polish. This look is fantastic! <3 Keep on being you. I love it!
1.UGG x Jimmy Choo
2.UGG in general
3. Jeffrey Campbell in general
4. Doc Martens (been there done that)
5. Forever 21/ Guess/Le Chateau/Bebe
6. Roberto Cavalli
7. Jeggings
8. Vancouver Fashion Week
9. Haul videos
10. Halloween costumes
Omg you are amazing. I haven't thought about things I don't care about, but most of them are already on your list. I especially do not understnad the hype of the JC Litas. They're just boots with a thick platform, what's so good about it?.. And UGGSxJimmy Choos are the ugliest piece of shit ever. What a horrible way to spend $600.

HAHAHA, you tell 'em, lily. the jimmy choo uggs are the worst. i think the litas are cute, but i don't think i'll end up buying a pair. maybe if they were cheaper.. lol.
xx
I must agree with 1-4 and 7-9. I am a poor university student and Forever 21 caters to that demo. Also, Uni students love Halloween. And Lanvin is one of my favourite brands even so the thought of owning something Alber's mind helped create makes me far too happy.
But honestly, haul videos are the stupidest thing ever. So pointless. Almost as bad as clogs and Uggs.
i liked the litas when i first saw them. now im like ughhhhhhh boring boring. even though i now live in vancouver i know nothing about its fashion week. uggs? uggwtf. i DO like halloween costumes though.
haha I love this post. Fashion is so weird, especially in the blog world. I sometimes wonder, am I not into "fashion" (whatever that may mean) because [fill in the blank]?
clothes are cute
I love the slender maxi dress with the boots! I will always and forever love Forever 21 :x
I love your maxi skirt. I want one just like it.
LOL!!! You re too funny.
1-4-6(don't really care for any H&M collab)8 and 10(last time I wore a costume was in grade 10 and that because my lil sisters dragged me to go roam the streets with them)
Seriously this is refreshing!lol
Ditto on anything related to UGG (I feel they are the ugliest), clogs and Lita platform boots... I really don't give a shit about those magazines telling what's the must-haves are and definitely didn't feel the necessity for someone to MAKE haul videos...
I thought I was the odd one out who didn't like Vancouver Fashion Week! I stopped going there years ago...
Well-said, Lily.
xoxo

aaahhh i here you!!! i def agree on the uggs, lanvin+h&m, clogs and youtube gurus!! aaaahhhh!!! hahahaha! they make for a good laugh sometimes though, to be quite blunt.. :p
love your maxi skirt here, dear!
Animated Confessions
i LOVE the maxi skirt and your jacket. I would love to see a picture of you standing up straight just to see the drape of each piece.
Ugg and Ugg X Jimmy Choo = barf.
You pull off the maxi skirt so well! I could never wear one I'm way too short.
Seriously, what the hell was Jimmy Choo thinking when he designed those UGG-like boots. It's sad to hear about the labour issue with F21, I personally love shopping there though. Their stuff has never fallen apart on me, except I would probably never buy their shoes. I would not like to work there though since so many people have said their policies are shitty, but sadly I must admit I will not stop shopping there. I must say their stock is horrible in Canada, the US is way better.I hate slutty or tacky Halloween costumes, It's become the holiday to see who can be the biggest slut. I still like to dress up though! I try to strive for something interesting but not slutty!
Happy Weekend!
-Jacquelyn
Lovely skirt!
Ugh, well I definitely agree with you on VFW. It's bullshit, and embarrassing for those of us who are actually want fashion to be presented a certain way for our city. It's run absolutely terribly.

Lily I'm a fan but seriously? You hate "must haves", but las time I checked you gave in and purchased the "must have" J Brand cargo pants.. yes I'm an avid follower. I'm just sayin'.
@Ana: Who said the J Brand Cargo pants were a "must-have"? I sure as hell didn't. Yeah, I admit, I have them both in olive AND black because they make my ass look fucking amazing. Unlike some other people I know, though, I only buy things I like; not because everyone else is wearing them.
Love the skirt!
Lol, best post ever. I love how straight up and direct you are about how you feel and about voicing your opinions. And, you look great while doing it ;) Love the light grey maxi and that shearling jacket. Good seeing you the other night!
Amazing skirt you're waering!
And I agree with you on number 1,2,6,7,9! I aso don't understan te thing about them...
your jacket is a dream, wow! <3
www.abitoffashion.com
this is why you're awesome. agree on all ten!!
Awww, but Halloween costumes are fun! ;) I hear you though. I get tired of hearing about fashion week over and over and over. And the Jeffrey Campbell Litas. I mean, cool, I guess, but after a while I start to think I like them--and then I remember I'm not sixteen anymore.
hey girl:)
I really like your jacket.. and yep. the Lita boots.. I don't get them.. thought I was the only one:p have a great day! looking at your maxi skirt makes me want to have one aswell..

I can respect that you don't give a fuck about those things.. but places like Forever 21 and things like video hauls are actually pretty great for people who can't afford the brands you blog about or who don't know how to get into fashion, how to dress for their body type, where to find certain clothes, etc.
Personally I think it's lame that everyone is hating on things that are either main stream or popular. It's almost as if your hating it for the sake of hating it.
@Michelle: FYI, if you shop from F21, then you're supporting sweatshop labor in the US and overseas. Just because it's "affordable", doesn't make it right. Also, haul videos are a waste of time. If people are looking for advice, read a magazine. That's what they're there for.
Uggs are gross. I hate slutty halloween costumes. I basically agree with everything else. But Forever 21 has some cute pieces every now and then.
I agree with 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6.
Those Lita-platforms are hideous (in my opinion) and I don't get the Lanvin for H&M-hype.
I don't get every designer for H&M-hype, for that matter.
If I see a piece that I like and doesn't cost too much, I'll buy it. But I won't stand in line for hours for some overpriced H&M-quality stuff. I'd rather save up and buy the real deal. :)
x Krizia
www.krizia-shark-attack.blogspot.com
1+2.) they barely enter my thought space until i see someone wearing something atrocious and it's paired with uggs.
3.) i've always hated clogs and i was perfectly justified in my hatred when i saw a "stylish" girl wearing clogs whilst walking like a duck with weights on it's feet
4.) hype is always boring.
5.)"fast fashion" will always be popular. unfortunate, but true. it appeals to the lazy ahole in all of us, me included.
6.) i've never actually enjoyed the ___ for ___ lines. in fact, i've always made fun of the people who stand in line for that crap.
7.)that shit annoys the hell out of me.
8.)this is not something i'm familiar with haha.
9.)have you ever watched those things?! it's amazing what people actually buy sometimes.
10.)i love halloween (mostly for the candy), but only in the sanctity of my own home.
oh, and i meant to add that i had absolutely no idea that forever 21 was THAT bad. thanks for informing me.
I love the red lips!
What is the point of a blog if you can't say what you feel?? Good for you for saying what you feel!
I agree with you on a lot of those.
commonsenseandstilettos.blogspot.com
I'm right with you on 1-4 and 7-10. F21 doesn't impress me much either and as far as Lanvin for H&M is concerned, I'll wait and see, but it damn sure is fucking annoying how everyone was dickriding (is that even the correct expression? :D) before they even saw anything. I love such posts, I gotta have a rant like this from time to time. come check out my yesterday's post, this was something else too.
I agree with 1, 2, 3; I actually dislike anything platform, I dislike trends or must haves because style is in the eye of the beholder, and haul videos tend to be ridiculous.
Forever21 should die out because it is the epitome of cheap labor and fabric. And those who say it's affordable because they can't afford anything else need to shop around and become smarter consumers.
I would also like to add:
-thick soled sneakers/ platform sneakers (you've seen the commercials and no it won't make you lose weight)
-crocs (I can't believe people still wear this)
Love the maxi skirt, I want it!
WELL SAID!!!!!!!!! <3
I don't care much for most of these.
Although I am fascinated by Haul/review combo videos... just because recently I've gotten so entranced by beauty products, and I want to see how real people who generally have my skintone wear it and feel about it. I think it's different just reading about beauty products in magazines and getting curious about them. I don't have the room in my budget/time to buy products and do trial and error finding a product I really like. So seeing real life reviews and tutorials are useful to me. I can see how a lot of people think they're a waste of time, though. They're not for everyone. I contemplated making one just to get more hits on my site, but that's kind of petty.
Lanvin X H&M. I can't buy it, but I have been enchanted with the idea of finally affording something created by Lanvin...
But I'm on a shopping ban. Sadly.
And I am so fucking sick of the Litas. They look like a cross between clown/boxer and ugly disco shoes. I don't get the draw other than the height. I hate the idea of looking like a platformed Ronald McDonald.
I haven't shopped at Forever21 for a few months, but seeing that video you linked the other night really opened my eyes. I don't really care about the religious zealotry, but the fact that they discriminate in the work place because of it makes me as sick about learning about the working conditions of the workers who create the looks.
I definitely will think twice before looking at Forever 21 again.
XX.
Mae Lu, thereafterish.
I have to add YOGA PANTS... When are canadians going to learn that no, yoga pants does not equal "fashionable" just cuz they make your butt look big... And they are overpriced but employ foreign sweatshop labor most probably... Everytime I see a girl wear them in the mall I just wanna bitchslap her.
And Aritzia.. Every girl shops there it eventually makes everyone look the same. (eg. The talulla blazer, tna stuff...)
I love your rants, theykeep me sane.
I definitely agree but I think a lot of people into fashion hate it sometimes. And yes, I would not be caught dead in clogs! Very unique outfit though ^^
Lily, I gotta say, if nothing else, I got a lesson out of this post. I'm definitely re-thinking my shopping habits.
XXo,
Neekoh
i agree with everything on that list.
ugg for jimmy choo makes me want to cry for fashion, and uggs in general.
love the honesty
With regard to forever21: it's a luxury for someone (especially in your position) to be able to boycott stores that have shady histories (i.e. have sweatshops, treat their workers like we're still living in the industrial revolution, or have people in powerful positions of the company donating money to deplorable "charities" that support anti-gay movements etc.)
For people who are classified as being in the "middle class" or lower usually the cheapest option is the only option. Actually for a lot of people in that category some of the stuff at Forever21 is still expensive, but poor people are still people right, so they want to fit into societies ideas of looking good so they'll pick the option that best works for them and that doesn't always include considering things like the reputation of the company. Reputable companies are usually more expensive.
People wouldn't still be shopping at Walmart or Nike or at whatever other company that has been exposed for deplorable behaviour if this weren't the case.
Anyway, I'm not accusing you of anything or saying that you're wrong. If you have the privilege to not shop there than you've picked a great and respectable reason not to, I'm just weighing in like you said.
I think it's great that you're concerned about the sweatshop conditions that workers must endure to make clothing for F21. I hope that you will also extend it to H&M clothing as well. H&M clothing is also made under sweatshop conditions:
In Bangkok, Thailand, workers as young as 16 years old sew H&M clothes until 11pm, nearly every night, for illegal wages.
In Indonesia 500 workers producing H&M walked off the job in protest of wage rates that are below the legal minimum. At the factory producing for H&M, some people work up to 60 hours per week - sometimes taking clothes home to finish sewing - for as little as $1 per day.
I hope that if you have a love-hate relationship with fashion, you might want to consider cutting back on overconsumerism since that also contributes to sweatshop conditions.
@eslj: I agreed with you up until you said I "might want to consider cutting back on overconsumerism". I didn't even realize, nor do I believe I'm doing such a thing (overconsuming). On what grounds did you get that idea from?
You know what? I used to think F21 was gross and then I started going and really looking for good stuff and they do have some great pieces at great prices. So I love F21 now!
A-fucking-men! I'm with you on all accounts.
Sure F21 is affordable but it isn't worth the shady labour that goes on to produce it. Someone else commented on how not everyone can avoid F21 because of the low price points but there are TONS of other options out there that are more ethical.
The only part of Halloween that I like is November 1st - half-priced candy is where it's at. I don't have to pay a ridiculous ticket price for an overpriced club to see a half-covered ass.
It seems like you can dish it but also take it. Sugar coated blogs are boring and your blog is definitely anything but.
Kuddos!
I agree with the Lita Platform Boots. My friends and I swear they look like clown shoes with a wooden heel. Just terrible!
Lmao, I love this.
Uggs, the name says it all.
Haul Vids, what exactly is the point? I don't understand the whole concept. Yes, you are showing us what you bought, then what?
Jeffrey Campbell Litas; don't understand why everyone is on them like this. I just don't understand.
But I love my clogs :)
In regards to F21, I have noticed that you do only wear designer, pretty much and that's because you can afford it.
But for people to say F21 is the only option for people who can't afford designer and imply that you can't speak your views about it simply because you can afford to buy designer is actually pretty diabolical.
There are plenty more affordable shops out there, F21 isn't the only place a poor person can shop. And you have the right to your opinion, whether you can afford to buy designer or not.
But you do have to keep in mind that if you weren’t in the financial position you are, you would probably be another F21 customer. I’m just sayin...
Also, I wanted to ask, since you are so concerned about F21 and ethics, do you think it's ethical to only wear designer clothing?
I find it amazing how people only look at designer clothing in a positive light because to me it really does present a mass of ethical issues.
Probably the most annoying being that, from my research, generally designer clothing is made with fabric of a higher quality, but most of these fabrics are very much similar and if not the same to those used by let's say top end high street labels. I once read an article saying that when paying for a designer garment, one is actually paying about 7 times the amount if cost to produce that particular garment. This includes everything from materials to labour. You are paying for all the recalls, all the advertising and the hype. Doesn’t this land us in the same position as F21? And the fact that you are really buying a name. Something abstract...
I recall reading an article titled something like Designer Clothing a Vanity Tax or something of that sort, really opened my eyes to this industry.
@Melody: To say if I didn't have the finances I would probably be another F21 customer is quite the bold statement. Don't assume things like that; it just makes you look like an ass. I guarantee you even if I wasn't able to afford designer labels, I would never step a foot in there. You basically just contradicted yourself by saying there are other options, but you'd still buy from there anyway.
I also don't only wear designer clothing, although, I realize my blog may say otherwise. But what even is "designer"? 99% of my wardrobe is either from a store called Aritzia, a fashion-forward chain of boutiques located here in Canada and the US, or Club Monaco. It's attainable by 16-60 year old females and males. Is that still "designer"? We all have our own definition of the term. I'm curious to hear yours.
Ahh, Lily. It's just like you to start such a colourful comment section : )
I actually have the J brand cargos and yes, they make my ass look fucking amazing as well. As for trends and must haves? That's why I stopped reading fashion magazines. I may not be the most fashionable person, but I hate the fact that fashion must have and trends seem to bring out the same look in everyone, the individuality is gone, gone, gone.
The thing I hate the most though? People wearing t shirts with tight leggings. Only because I can see camel toe and it is not very appealing.
nice dress!

you're so gorgeous lily, can't help but being a fan.
Love your style. x

I am so glad someone has just said they don't like the JC Lita's. I drafted a post a wee while back that I never ended up posting... I loathe those shoes, I just don't "get" them I guess (although I do like the delicious taupe colour.. if only it was a different shoe!)
I think it's great that you're honest you know :)

totally loved the look

I liked the Litas in taupe, but after seeing them literally everywhere, there is no way in hell I would buy them. Especially because Jeffrey Campbell shoes fall apart easily.
The Ugg x Jimmy Choo collab is terrible.
wtff. jimmy choo uggs? no effing way! sounds gross!
adding to my list: those fucking fur tails hanging from bags! wtf is that supposed to be? gross!
i agree with you on all apart from 4 & 5 ... we cant love everything in fashion!!! http://www.fashionablenotebook.blogspot.com
I agree about Uggs, because they are f-ugg-ly and are hell for your feet (I walk along behind girls wearing them with collapsed arches and despair) and look chavtastic. I am also not remotely interested in Lanvin for H&M, mainly because all the photos I've seen are so boring.
Lita boots I LOVE, but I am bored of how they sell out within seconds of going instore. And I bet they aren't really as comfy as everyone says. I have some bright silver brogues that I'm wearing today and they are comfy. I am a big fan of them so I have to talk about them.
I've never seen a haul video but there's a reason for that.
And I LOVE the title of your post juxtaposed with a photo of you smiling sweetly. You are cool.
It's "I couldn't care less".
@Tionna: I stand corrected.
you are so awesome! I can agree with a lot of your points on your list! Like the Lita shoes, they were cool when I saw them the first time,...but now, just boring, I dont care..and the new UGGS??? UGGly
bisous,
mia
The first picture is gorgeous!
kiss
I think most people here are forgetting that a blog is your own personal space to discuss whatever you want. Blogs were created as an alternative to an old school journal. People are getting so offended about others' choices of clothing, opinions, etc which I think is completely unnecessary.
Lily, I loved reading this post and I loved reading thru the comments. I'm sure I've told you a couple times, but I admire that you say what's on your mind and stand firm in your beliefs.
Hope you're having a great day. Oh and your shearling in black looks amazing!
xx Love & Aloha
wow the first pic is divine! Gorgeous!
ahahha. Lily, I swear to God you make my day sometimes. You are one straight up female and nothing is more raw than that.
Whether I agree with you on your "I don't give a fuck" list doesn't matter, it's the simple fact of you being you. You created a blog, you created the voice and you created the following. These readers are quite hilarious in their responses however, seemingly so offended when really, you weren't suggesting people agree with you, you merely spoke your I DONT GIVE A FUCK's. THIS, this right here, is why I follow you. You're rare, you're real and you JUST DON'T GIVE A FUCK.
BTW, I'm a Lita lover I'm happy to admit. LMAO.
xx,
Christina

I love this look. And I love the fact that you're open with your opinions. YOU GO GIRL xxx
http://reallyliteral.blogspot.com/
Strangely enough, i was thinking exactly the same about the Jimmy Choo and the Lanvin for H&M thing. But i have to disagree on the Lita as for some reason, those shoes are growing on me.
Nice blog by the way
1) Agreed.
2) Agreed but I'm not throwing out the Uggs I have for anyone. I purchased them when I lived in Michigan and if anyone has lived in Michigan (or a comparable state in terms of WINTER HELL) then he/she respects my decision.
3) Agreed but again, not throwing out my Miu Mius because of the fad. I pretty much do whatever I want to do and not what Vogue dictates.
4) A G R E E D. Jesus Christ. One top blogger I can fist bump with!
5) A G R E E D!!! Again, the light is shinning through Bleed For Fashion this morning!
6) I'm going to have to agree. The first images I saw look better than the actual product. I'm going to blog a retraction later this morning.
7) Agreed.
8) I am of no opinion.
9) I'm not even sure what those are.
10) Normally I'd agree but I had a BLAST dressing up as Alice this past Halloween and have every intention of going for The Red Queen next. Different strokes for different folks :)
The Black Queen
I love your surly nature. It's real!!!:)
- JC Litas = puke (why does everybody want to be a go-go dancer??)
- Uggs = puke
- Uggs x Jimmy Choo = double puke
- Clogs = the only "trendy" thing I would never go for
- Forever 21 = hit or miss
- Lanvin for H&M = I'm not going to line up for it
- Haul videos = these just show how consumerism has taken over the world!
- Halloween costumes = I don't like Halloween. Period.
It's official. I need a maxi skirt. Thanks to you! :D
www.monochromachic.com
I love haul videos. They inform me about things I want but don't know I want yet :)
I do LOVE your style. I can't afford it but I love viewing it nonetheless. I find cheaper versions of some of the things you post.
I hope you're not one of those girls that are so quiet and harmless in person, but are total bigmouth bitches on the internet because they find safety behind their computers. I really hope so, because I love your outfits.
P.S.,
I hate Forever21 and would not shop there, regardless. But I do love how comfortable my Uggs feel after wearing heels all day for work, so fuck anyone who bashes my Uggs! And they keep me warm in the nasty Canadian winter.
@racheun: To each their own.
P.S. I'm worst in person. I'm more tamed when I'm behind the computer.
Lily Im sure you'ree butt looked hot in the J Brand cargos bc ur a hot girl, the reason I called them a "must have" is bc they were in every damn magazine I picked up, worn by some celebrity.. thts all
I agree with you on almost all of these except for Forever 21. Anytime I want to try a trend before I buy something expensive I'll get it there. But, my breakdown Jeff Campbell Lita= "Clown Shoes", Uggs= Putting your foot up a Sheep's ass!", Haul videos= "bragging about stupid shit you bought" But, I gotta say Clogs and Halloween Costumes = FUN! Just have to find the right ones. Love that you keep it real!
Agree about the nasty shoes and the silliness of flash fashion, (seriously world? HOW did clogs happen? and wtf tiny wallets on strings you call a purse?) but haul videos are just the YouTube manifestation of the fashion blogging movement, no? You're also showcasing your taste in clothing and new things you buy on this blog, granted it's a lottttt less tacky than most haul vids. I think that just like blogging went from simple, self-mirror shots in your closet, to a big fucking photoshoot-like deal, fashion vlogs will eventually get less obnoxious and more effective.
I <3 YOU AND FOLLOWED YOU FOR THIS POST. Though i have a love hate relationship with some on the things you posted(ie F21 its only good for last min replicas of things that were sold out and basic tees) i love that you put it out there... speak your mind its your blogg.... ppl should get offended unless they own or have stock in the company...even then get over yourselves
<3

I checked out Lanvin H&M collection. Wow, what disappointment; the only thing I liked was a necklace. Blah. It didn't live up to its hype!
I live in Edmonton, and I love my Cardy Uggs cuz they keep my feet warm. But once i'm at work, they come off and I wear more work-appropriate footwear. So i guess Uggs have their place!
Which Aritizia label is your fave?
In terms of quality, would you shop more at Zara or Aritizia? I like both stores but I'm finding that my Wilfred sweaters look better longer compared to my Zara ones. thanks!!
@judy: Wilfred/Wilfred Free/Le Fou by Wilfred.
I like Zara, but I don't shop there. The sizes don't fit me properly.
PREACH GIRL PREACH
*THANK YOU* FOR SUPPORTING THE ANTI LITA CAMPAIGN. Serious respect for anyone who will ignore that mess.
I heart you.
I'm so happy someone FINALLY said something about the LANVIN/H&M collection! So disappointing.
1. photographer boyfriends - well when the said boyfriend is flaunted more than he is behind the lenses.
2.Halloween costumes that are just slutty for no reason.
3.Monkey see monkey do. She has I must have too.
4. Wearing ugly pieces just to come off as "creative"
5.OOTD videos on Youtube.
6.Leggings as pants, camel toe, vpl, etc.
7.Strong perfume/cologne
8.Anyone who brags on their fashion sense.
9.Wet Seal, Charlotte Russe, and possibly i'd agree w/ you on the F21 if I made more cash.
10.Diets. They don't call your mouth a pie hole for nothing.
If f21 is all about sweatshops then what do you call h&m? Last time my h&m top, it was made in INDIA.
Hahaha..love your frankness, it's so refreshing, and your sense of style is inspiring..
