You Get Me

HAUTE HIPPE TOP, HELMUT LANG TANK TOP & SKIRT, BURBERRY PRORSUM SHOES

"A soul mates purpose is to shake you up, tear apart your ego a little bit, show you your obstacles and addictions, break your heart open so new light can get in, make you so desperate and out of control that you have to transform your life, then introduce you to your spiritual master." — Eat, Pray, Love

This post is dedicated to my soul mates. The ones I don't need to explain or justify myself to because they just know. The ones who aren't afraid to kick my ass from time to time, tell me how foolishly I'm acting, then crack a joke so funny that I cry. I'd much rather surround myself with these few individuals and have intellectual conversations and debates that stimulate the senses and be mind fucked than surround myself by charlatan characters with obsequious personalities who say one thing while thinking another.

Some people are lucky to have fallen in love; others are luckier to have found their soul mate. I'm blessed to have found more than one. At a time in my life where I need unwavering support and unconditional love, these are the people who continue to hold me down.

On another note, thank you to those who have donated in support of my upcoming journey to Nepal. I'm eternally grateful and appreciative by the fact I evoke emotion through my blog (especially from strangers), whether it be good or bad. I welcome all opinions and feedback, as long as they're presented respectfully and with genuine interest and care behind it.

XOXO,

All my best friends are my soul mates, which means I'm lucky enough to have, like, 6, which includes you.

I love you and you always have me to kick your ass, weep with you, be silly with you, commiserate with you, be angry with others for you, and support the hell out of you whatever you do.

Most of all, I'm always proud of you for 1. being brilliant, 2. being full of perspective, and 3. for always going out of your way to better yourself and the world around you.

I've noticed the fact that your readers haven't been getting the full breakdowns of your designer outfits for the last few posts. Is it perhaps to assuage any residual guilt that may be lingering after ever so subtly hinting that your readers should cover the program fees that are enabling you to fly halfway across the world to discover yourself whilst selflessly aiding the poorest of the poor?

It's laughable in so many ways, especially when you consider one of your posts just a few days earlier showcasing picture after picture of your lovely island getaway, complete with a private room.

I hope you learn a lot of life lessons from the beautiful people of Nepal. I used to be a big fan of this blog...it's amazing how one's true nature can really shine via blog posts. I know almost all of your readers stand behind *what* you're doing. I do as well- the act itself is wonderful, and I wish I myself could have the opportunity (and the funds) to do so, but I don't. However, when I am finally able to, I know my journey will be for less superficial reasons than my need for strangers and the brown people of the world to validate that I'm a benevolent and compassionate person. Good luck on your trip, and in life. Seems like you'll need it.

@OscillatingWildly: I decided to stop posting a description of what I'm wearing not out of guilt, but because I no longer want my outfits to be the primary focus of my posts. Too often people do not take the time to read what I have to say and just come for the imagery.

The fact you assume I'm going to Nepal for superficial reasons disgust me. I'm not going to explain myself any more than I already have. At the end of the day, this is my blog and I will say/do what I want with it regardless of what you or anyone else think. If anyone needs luck in life, it's you.

Lily you rock! Your blog and your writing has inspired me in many ways than one... so keep doing what you do chica! Like the inspirational words on your previous post... "THIS IS YOUR LIFE" :D It's so easy to be negative and judgmental... so damn easy that so many people fall into this trap, most times without realizing it! The real struggle is to separate ourselves from all this negativity and keep fighting for our own happiness... It's deeply uplifting to know that you, me, and selected few out there are doing it, and the least we can do is to support each other :D

The quote you posted from Eat, Pray, Love has spoke to me in many ways. I never thought I could find words to explain my current situation and these ones describe it to a tee. Thank you, xox.

I stumbled across your blog recently and am so happy that I did. You come across as super genuine, insightful and hilarious! I love your look, and although I can't really pull off some things the way you do *and afford it* your outfits still inspire me. Good luck with your journey to Nepal :)
