A Real Human Being

I spent this past week catching up with old friends—Skype with Mae, bowling at REVS with Betty, tea time at Après-midi Teahouse with Alex and brunch at Two Chefs and a Table with Peter—all the while reacquainting myself with the city. I also watched Drive. Why didn't you write me, Ryan? Why?
On a different note, there's something to be said about a person who thinks they know everything and a person who knows they don't. If there's one thing life has taught me, it's that the more I learn, the less I know. We often treat pride as one of our strengths, when in reality, it's simply our greatest weakness. I should know because I have plenty of it. I once said if you want something (or someone) and you feel it's worth it, don't let it go without fighting for it. Sometimes the simplest gesture will make the world of difference. Now, if only I could take my own advice.
Pardon me and my chaotic mind.

You should already know this, but this is why 1. we're friends 2. i keep coming back as a dedicated reader and lover of your blog and 3. how much i adore you. i love how you open up and express. there are way too many bloggers who don't do it and yes, it's fine. but do you know how many people reading your blog fully relate and understand exactly what you're saying? I feel the point of blogging is to a relatable source of life. Enough with the celebrities and the people/things/places we can't relate to as everyday people. Bloggers have the innate ability to relate to their reader regardless of skin color, size, shape, gender, sexual orientation, style, intelligence, etc. We should be so proud to be able to reach this about of gratitude and understanding from strangers. I love who you are and I genuinely know we'll be friends till "it all falls down". You are one of a kind my dear Lily. You've also inspired me to get back to what I know.

I love the pants and scarf. You have such amazing style, which I'm sure you've heard many times. I also love what you wrote. I have a lot of pride as well, which ends up getting me into trouble. I am also working on finding myself and the place i have in this fashion universe. Great post!

It's so true how pride is our greatest downfall...but it can also be our greatest champion, given the right situation.
I'm glad you learned how to harness your weaknesses and overcome them in Nepal. I am more than proud of you.

This song has been on repeat. Love it.
Great look as always.
I've been reading your blog for a long time now but I've never posted, bit too shy. I just wanted to let you know how much I love your style and your attitude. You have a wonderful mind.
I was pretty sure I saw you walking with your friend the day you took this picture but I was way to nervous to say something.
Keep on keeping on!
Omg Lily this has been one of my favourite songs ever since I saw Drive!! I have the rest of College's discography, let me know if you ever want it! So happy to see you style the pants like you said, it's such a strong and chic look, and I love the way you mixed patterns too.
It was so good seeing you the other day lovey, you're one of my faves :). And fully agree about what you said in this post...people who think they have it all figured out and are too proud to try to adapt or change are my biggest annoyances. You're proud but you're far from being that kind of person, you're the exact opposite!
Hope your week is off to a good start beautiful :)

I just wanted to say you look absolutely gorgeous, as always, with your bangs Lily!
